California’s new law will require Compton Unified to gradually phase out certain ultraprocessed and restricted school foods beginning in 2029. Familiar meals such as pizza or chicken nuggets are not automatically banned, but some products may need healthier ingredients or reformulation. CUSD’s partnership with Everytable and its move toward freshly prepared meals may give the district a valuable head start.

Compton Unified became Everytable’s first traditional public K–12 district partner, helping the company test a school-meal model that has since expanded across California. Beyond student nutrition, Compton should measure contract performance, costs, food waste, jobs, and supplier participation—and pursue production, distribution, training, and procurement opportunities so the city shares in the long-term economic value of the business model it helped launch.

The LA84 Foundation has awarded grant funding to Compton Unified School District to expand free after-school sports programs across 25 school campuses, benefiting approximately 1,700 students. The investment supports coaching, equipment, uniforms, transportation, and participation in multiple sports while removing financial barriers. The program strengthens youth development, promotes healthy lifestyles, and reflects continued investment in Compton's future.

Compton Unified School District has unveiled its comprehensive Facilities Master Plan, a long-term vision for modernizing schools and enhancing learning environments across the district. The plan includes campus improvements, new educational spaces, technology and safety upgrades, sustainable design, and district-wide investments that will support student success and strengthen the future of Compton's schools and community.

Twenty Compton Unified scholars recently participated in the Aviation Career Education (ACE) Academy, where they explored careers in aviation, aerospace, engineering, and drone technology through hands-on experiences and industry tours. Supported by the FAA, OBAP, American Airlines, and Fly Compton, the program introduced students to high-demand career pathways while helping strengthen the future workforce of our region.

Compton High School's partnership with the GRAMMY® Award-winning National Children's Chorus continues as part of its growing performing arts program. Launched in 2025, the scholarship-funded initiative provides students with professional vocal training, music theory, and performance experience. The program reflects Compton Unified's continued investment in arts education and student development.
