Key Developments for the 2026 Report

  • Black Aging and Caregiving: In May 2025, Los Angeles County declared May 17 as Black Elders Appreciation Day. This initiative is part of the Sankofa Elders Project, which aims to create a Black Aging Policy Agenda. The project has developed the "Black Eldering Bill of Rights," a framework to advocate for the dignity, care, and well-being of Black elders. This focus on Black aging and caregiving is expected to be a priority in the 2026 report.
