Yoshinoya Celebrates a New Chapter in Compton
The Compton Chamber of Commerce proudly invites residents, business owners, and community leaders to join us for a special Ribbon Cutting & Community Relaunch celebration welcoming Yoshinoya’s new Compton location as an official Chamber member.
📍 821 N. Long Beach Blvd., Compton, CA
🗓 Friday, February 20, 2026
🕚 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM
This event marks more than the opening of a restaurant — it represents a renewed investment in Compton, a fresh chapter under new management, and a meaningful contribution to the city’s visual landscape.
A Fresh Start on Long Beach Boulevard
Yoshinoya’s newest location introduces a modern store design, including the brand’s innovative double drive-thru concept, enhancing convenience and guest experience. As highlighted in the company’s official announcement, this Compton restaurant represents an important milestone for the 125-year-old brand and reflects its continued growth in California.

Since opening in late Fall 2025, the restaurant has quietly been serving the community with a new team, new energy, and a clear commitment to delivering a positive and welcoming dining experience.
Now, the Chamber is proud to formally welcome Yoshinoya as a business member and celebrate their growing role in our local economy.
A Gift to the Community: The Compton Tribute Mural
Directly across from the restaurant stands something truly special.
What was once a wall covered in heavy graffiti and gang tagging has been transformed into a vibrant, large-scale tribute mural celebrating the pride and spirit of Compton.

The entire mural project — including:
Surface cleaning and preparation
Artist fees
Materials
Permit fees
Installation costs
— was fully funded by Yoshinoya as a heartfelt gift to the people of Compton.
The mural was completed in Fall 2025 while the city permitting process was underway and now stands as a lasting symbol of civic pride and beautification.
This initiative reflects Yoshinoya’s commitment not just to doing business in Compton — but to investing in Compton.
Meet the Artist: Mel Depaz
The mural was created by Mel Depaz, a multimedia artist, muralist, and designer proudly born and raised in Compton.
As a first-generation Salvadoran American, Depaz draws inspiration from her heritage and hometown. Her work highlights local landmarks, businesses, and the cultural vibrancy that defines South Los Angeles.
Depaz has completed dozens of large-scale murals across the region and describes her art as:
“A love letter to Compton and an invitation for others to recognize the pride, beauty and resilience found in the city.”
Her mural across from Yoshinoya captures iconic imagery, recognizable locations, and the living energy of Compton — transforming a once-blighted surface into a point of community pride.
