The Compton Chamber of Commerce proudly congratulates our strategic partner, For The Love of Our Veterans, Inc., on the official launch of its new website:
The new website creates a dedicated online home for the organization, the annual Compton Veterans Stand Down, its community partnerships and an expanding collection of trusted information for veterans and their families.
For The Love of Our Veterans is a volunteer-driven nonprofit committed to honoring and assisting veterans—particularly those experiencing homelessness or facing the risk of homelessness. Through compassionate outreach, resource connections and strong community partnerships, the organization works to ensure that veterans receive the support, dignity and recognition they deserve.
The organization works in strategic partnership with the Compton Chamber of Commerce, the City of Compton, public agencies, nonprofit organizations, healthcare providers, businesses, volunteers and community supporters.
Follow News About the Compton Veterans Stand Down
The website will serve as an important source of news and updates regarding the annual Compton Veterans Stand Down, the organization’s signature program.
Visitors can follow announcements concerning event dates, participating agencies, available services, sponsorship opportunities, volunteer needs and other important information leading up to each Stand Down.
The website currently includes a dedicated page for the 23rd Annual Compton Veterans Stand Down, scheduled for September 26–28, 2026, at the Compton Housing Authority, located at 700 N. Bullis Road in Compton.
As additional event details become available, veterans, families, service providers, volunteers, sponsors and community members will be able to return to the website for updates.
Learn About the History of the Veterans Stand Down Movement
The website also presents the history and purpose of the Veterans Stand Down movement.
The first Stand Down was organized in San Diego in 1988 as a community-based response to the needs of homeless veterans. The concept was inspired by the military meaning of “stand down”—a period when service members could leave the battlefield, enter a place of relative safety, receive care and supplies, and prepare to move forward.
Since that time, Stand Down events have expanded across California and throughout the country, bringing government agencies, nonprofit organizations, healthcare providers, businesses and volunteers together in one accessible location.
Visitors can also learn how that movement reached Compton and developed into a longstanding local tradition of service, cooperation and respect for veterans.
Explore a Comprehensive Veterans Resource Section
One of the most valuable features of the new website is its detailed and growing Veteran Resources section.
This section is designed to help veterans and their families locate dependable information and organizations addressing a broad range of needs, including:
VA benefits and claims assistance
Healthcare and VA medical services
Mental-health and crisis support
Housing and homelessness assistance
Employment and career development
Education and vocational training
Legal assistance
Food and emergency support
Transportation resources
Support for women veterans
Senior and disabled-veteran services
Hearing loss, tinnitus and assistive technology
Caregiver and family resources
Burial, memorial and survivor benefits
Community-based veteran organizations
Rather than requiring veterans and their families to search through numerous unrelated websites, the resource section brings useful information and direct service connections together in one convenient location.
New resources and educational articles will continue to be added as the website develops.
Read Veteran News and Educational Articles
The website’s blog provides another way for veterans and families to stay informed.
Articles will address veteran benefits, healthcare, housing, wellness, safety, community programs and other subjects that may affect veterans’ daily lives. The blog will also share organizational announcements, Stand Down updates, community partnerships and opportunities to participate.
The goal is to provide practical, understandable information that veterans can use and share.
Learn About the Organization and Its Community Work
Visitors can explore the history, mission, vision and leadership of For The Love of Our Veterans and learn how its work has developed through years of volunteer service and community collaboration.
The website also introduces the organization’s principal areas of service:
