On Saturday, January 18, 2025, the Compton Chamber of Commerce gathered community leaders, business owners, and residents for a heartfelt celebration honoring the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. The event, themed "Unity in Diversity: Celebrating Our Collective Strength," took place at the Chamber auditorium, serving as a powerful reminder of Dr. King’s vision for justice, equality, and service.

The morning began with a warm welcome from the Compton Chamber President Dr. Lestean M. Johnson followed by Councilwoman Deidre Duhart, who set the tone for the event by emphasizing the importance of unity and collective progress. The audience was then moved by an inspiring keynote address from Rev. Johnny Thompson, Pastor of Life House SoCal Church, who spoke passionately about continuing Dr. King’s mission through leadership and service.
The program also featured a soulful performance by soloist Pamela Blackmon-Kendle, whose rendition of traditional spirituals stirred deep emotion throughout the room. Accompanied by talented musicians William Bryant and Robert Colvin, the music created a reverent and uplifting atmosphere.
