⚾ COMPTON LITTLE LEAGUE DEVELOPMENT UPDATE 🥎

UPDATE — AUGUST 29, 2026: This announcement has been revised to reflect the current development and chartering status of Compton Little League as of today.

Compton Little League (CLL) has a long history of serving young athletes and families in the Compton community. The League’s last recorded activity occurred in 2019, and its operations ceased with the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Compton Chamber of Commerce is now leading and supporting the effort to restore Little League Baseball and Softball as an active, organized, and sustainable community program.

CLL’s leadership is in place, its organizational foundation has been established, and development of its dedicated public website continues.

Organizational Development

Compton Little League, Inc., the nonprofit organization under which the program will operate, has been registered as a California nonprofit public-benefit corporation.

This incorporation establishes CLL’s legal organizational structure in California. It is separate from the chartering process with Little League International (LLI), which remains underway.

Formal written charter approval is still required before CLL can represent itself as an officially chartered Little League program.

Current Chartering Status

The proposed Compton Little League boundary map has been developed by Steve “Coach Mo” Morrison in coordination with the California District 37 administration and is now ready to be presented to LLI’s West Region leadership for final review and approval.

The West Region must confirm that CLL’s proposed territory is properly aligned with the established boundaries of neighboring Little League programs. Once the boundary map is approved, the chartering process can proceed toward completion at the West Region level.

Following completion of the charter approval process, CLL’s Little League identification number will be reactivated, allowing the League’s official Sports Connect account to be established and the technical integration of LLI-approved operational systems to proceed. Sports Connect is Little League International’s officially approved technology solutions provider.

The process has taken longer than originally anticipated, partly because it coincided with Little League’s demanding annual tournament and World Series season. West Region personnel have been assisting with World Series responsibilities in Pennsylvania and are expected to resume their regular regional duties after returning to the San Bernardino office at the beginning of September.

CLL remains committed to completing all chartering, administrative, eligibility, safety, and operational requirements properly.

Remembering District 37 Webmaster Greg Jones

CLL’s early technology-coordination plans experienced an unexpected and deeply unfortunate interruption following the passing of District 37 Webmaster Greg Jones.

We had planned to consult with Mr. Jones regarding the LLI-approved technology systems needed to support CLL’s operations. Regrettably, he passed away before that work could begin.

We extend our sincere condolences to Mr. Jones’s family, friends, and the entire District 37 Little League community. His passing represents a significant loss to the District.

Technology and Operational Systems

Direct contact has been established with Little League International’s West Region leadership. Sports Connect, Little League International’s approved technology solutions provider, has also been contacted and is prepared to assist CLL with implementing its authorized operational systems.

CLL will use the established systems available through Sports Connect for player and volunteer registration, background checks, scheduling, payments, roster management, and league administration rather than developing separate applications. Required league information will also be synchronized with the Little League Data Center.

Once the proposed boundary map receives final approval and the chartering process is completed, CLL’s Little League identification number will be reactivated and its official Sports Connect account will be established. Sports Connect will then guide CLL through the implementation of the approved operational systems.

These systems will be seamlessly integrated with the public CLL website, allowing families, volunteers, coaches, and administrators to move conveniently between the website and the League’s official operational services.

Website

Until written charter approval is received, CLL remains a developing youth baseball and softball organization completing the Little League International chartering process.

Meanwhile, development of the dedicated CLL public website continues. The domain www.comptonlittleleague.org has been registered but is not yet connected to the website.

The website will introduce the League’s vision and provide information about programs, divisions, eligibility, volunteer opportunities, community partnerships, news, events, and preparations for the upcoming season.

Player and volunteer registration dates, eligibility requirements, schedules, and other operational information will be announced once confirmed.

Our Commitment Continues

The Compton Chamber of Commerce remains proud to lead and support this important community initiative.

Although the chartering and technology processes have taken longer than originally anticipated, meaningful progress has been made. The proposed League boundary has been developed with the District 37 administration and is ready for presentation to Little League International’s West Region leadership for final review and approval.

The previously anticipated early-to-mid-September public website launch is being reevaluated. Late September is now the more realistic working target for full operational readiness, including the public website and its integration with the authorized Sports Connect systems.

This remains a working goal rather than a confirmed launch date. The final schedule will depend on the West Region’s approval of the proposed boundary map, completion of the chartering process, reactivation of CLL’s identification number, and establishment of the League’s Sports Connect account.

We will continue completing everything within our control and will announce confirmed website and operational dates as soon as the remaining requirements are resolved.
