On June The Mamba and Mambacita Sports Foundation, in collaboration with BodyArmor, opened up the refurbished outdoor basketball court and revealed new mural of Kobe and Gianna.
Compton city council member Andre Spicer and Compton Mayor Emma Sharif endorsed the project. Compton Chamber of Commerce congratulates the organizations which spearheaded the project. Compton business community is grateful to all contributors to the project. We feel that projects like this will provide more opportunities for young people in Compton.
The Wilson Park outdoor basketball court is the 10th such court BodyArmor has refurbished in the past year. The tiled court is Lakers purple and gold with Kobe and Gianna’s names etched in black lettering in the middle. The mural was created by Los Angeles artist Sloe.
Among those in attendance were Lakers general manager Rob Pelinka, former Sparks center Lisa Leslie and Atlanta Hawks point guard Trae Young.
