Latest Endorsement Highlights Davis’s Commitment to Strengthening Small Businesses and Creating Economic Opportunity
COMPTON, CA — Continuing to expand her broad and diverse coalition of support, Compton School Board Member Dr. Ayanna Davis today announced the endorsement of the Compton Chamber of Commerce.
A long-standing champion for economic growth in the region, the Compton Chamber of Commerce has consistently supported policies that uplift small businesses and create good-paying local jobs for working families.
In a letter endorsing Dr. Davis’ campaign for Assembly District 65, Compton Chamber of Commerce President and CEO Dr. Lestean M. Johnson wrote:

ABOUT AYANNA

Dr. Ayanna Davis is a lifelong public servant, educator, and advocate for children and working families. Born and raised in a single-parent household in Compton, California, Ayanna has deep roots in the community she now serves.
A dedicated mother, Ayanna’s commitment to service was inspired early on by her stepfather, a Fire Captain with the Compton Fire Department and President of the Firefighters Union. These formative experiences instilled in her a strong sense of purpose and a passion for uplifting others.
In 2022, Ayanna was elected to the Compton Unified School District Board of Trustees, where she currently serves as Vice President and Legislative Representative. Her career in public education spans over two decades, including 21 years as a teacher and principal in the Watts community. A proud union member from a union household, she also serves as Vice President of the Associated Administrators of Los Angeles (AALA).
A proud Democrat and grassroots organizer, Ayanna holds leadership roles across key Democratic organizations. She serves on the Executive Board of the New Frontier Democratic Club—the oldest, largest, and most influential African American Democratic Club in California—and is an elected member of the Los Angeles County Democratic Party Central Committee. She is also a California Democratic Party delegate for Assembly District 65, actively participating in both the African American Caucus and the Children’s Caucus.
A passionate advocate for children from underserved and marginalized backgrounds, Ayanna served as President of the Southern California Chapter of the California Association of Early Young Children. Her professional expertise also includes certifications in Autism Spectrum Disorders, Child Abuse and Neglect, and School Site Homeless Liaison programs.
Dr. Davis is a proud alumna of the University of Southern California, where she earned both her bachelor’s degree in Political Science and her Doctorate in Organizational Change and Leadership from the Rossier School of Education. She also holds two Master of Arts degrees in Educational Administration—one from California State University, Dominguez Hills, and the other from California State University, Northridge, with a focus on Leadership and Policy Studies.
