CCC congratulates Captain La Tonya R. Clark

Compton Chamber of Commerce congratulates Captain La Tonya R. Clark as she takes on on her new role as the Captain of CPT Station.


In October of 2019, Captain La Tonya R. Clark was selected by the Compton (CPT) City Council, as the new Captain of CPT Station to oversee law enforcement services in the community consisting of: The city of Compton, the unincorporated areas of Gardena, Rosewood, as well as East Rancho Dominguez. Captain Clark is the 13th captain selected via Sheriff Villanueva’s Captain selection process.


Captain Clark has been a member of #LASD since 1990. Upon graduating from the academy, she worked at Sybil Brand Institute for Women. She worked at Carson Station where she serviced the cities of Carson, Torrance & Rancho Dominquez. She was also a member of Community Oriented Policing Team (COPS) servicing the County of Los Angeles.


Captain Clark was one of the first women assigned to the Department of Gang Enforcement Team (GET) which was a component of the Department of Operation Safe Streets Bureau (OSS). While on that team she serviced Lakewood, Norwalk, & Pico Rivera during a roving patrol operation, as well as assisted with weekly search warrants, regarding crimes against persons & property crimes. She was also an instructor for Crime Prevention through Environmental Design training course.


Additionally, Captain Clark was a Child Abuse Investigator serving the communities of San Dimas, Walnut, Industry, South Los Angeles & Century. Moreover, she was the first Child Abuse Investigator assigned to Compton Station when the Department took over law enforcement responsibilities for the city of Compton.


In 2002, Captain Clark was promoted to sergeant & worked multiple assignments within Custody & Patrol Division. She was promoted to lieutenant in 2009, and worked as a Watch Commander, Service Area Lieutenant, Special Projects Lieutenant & Operations Lieutenant within various divisions to include: Custody Division, Technology Services Division, Court Services Division & Special Operations Division working, both Transit Services & Metrolink Bureau. She was also a Chief’s Aide in South Patrol Division prior to promoting to Captain.


Captain Clark has a bachelor’s degree from the University of Southern Illinois.
